IntelliProve joins the FTI Alliance: innovation and health going hand in hand
Flanders Technology & Innovation (FTI) welcomes IntelliProve as the newest partner of the FTI Alliance.
Together, we will push the boundaries of health monitoring with groundbreaking technology supported by data and AI. This collaboration promises not only technological advancement but also tangible impact for businesses and citizens.
Reinventing Health Monitoring
Founded in 2021, IntelliProve offers a revolutionary solution for health measurements. Using advanced facial analysis that examines facial micro-expression patterns, their software measures various biometric signals such as heart rate, respiratory rate, stress levels, and heart rate variability – all fully contactless and in only 20 seconds.
“All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or laptop camera. Through a short video, our technology detects subtle changes in facial blood vessels that are invisible to the naked eye, as well as for example hanging eyelids or drooping corners of the mouth. These facial features provide information about a person’s health status,” explains Joeri Tulkens, co-founder and CEO of IntelliProve. He continues: “Our AI model is trained on 63 predictive facial properties and helps in the early detection of risks such as burnout and other conditions.”

In the fall of 2024, FTI launched the Elli initiative to provide deeper insights into human energy levels by integrating data from various sources. Elli serves as a proactive tool to monitor potential risks: if energy levels drop below a healthy threshold, it can act as an early warning for burnout, enabling timely interventions to maintain overall well-being. “A company like IntelliProve fits perfectly into such an initiative and can help take health monitoring to the next level,” says Frank Hamerlinck, CEO of FTI.
A shared mission: improving and saving lives
With more than 1.1 million tested data points and accuracy that meets clinical acceptability criteria, IntelliProve has already proven itself as a reliable partner for health organizations and corporate well-being platforms. “Globally, there are about six companies collecting biometric data based on facial micro-expression patterns. However, we set ourselves apart because our tool is certified as a medical device and is integrated into robust external digital health platforms instead of being offered as a standalone B2C-app. Our solution isn’t something you can simply purchase in the App Store,” adds Tulkens. “Moreover, we will never conclude that someone, for instance, has burnout. Instead, we indicate whether there is a low, medium, or high risk of a specific condition.”
The partnership with FTI is about more than just technology; it’s about a shared vision: leveraging innovation and unlocking data to address society’s challenges. “Our vision is to save human lives by improving health monitoring. Through this partnership, we can compare our data points at an aggregated and anonymized level with other sources, such as input from wearables or surveys, which is crucial for cross-validation. This not only helps us further improve our models but also enables us to set new standards together with the community, ultimately saving lives,” says Tulkens.
The Power of Collaboration
FTI facilitates a unique environment where data can be unlocked at an aggregated level without being transferred or changing ownership. “If this initiative had existed four years ago, it would have been amazing. For an AI model to work effectively across different conditions, you need an immense amount of data points. That’s why we have focused on partnerships from day one, including with Wit-Gele Kruis, which, as an R&D partner and investor, uses our software for biometric measurements, while also performing comparative measurements with traditional devices like blood pressure monitors. Setting up such partnerships is incredibly challenging for a startup. Before a partner commits, you need a well-functioning product, but to build that product, you need vast amounts of data points. A party like FTI, which unites startups and larger organizations to collaborate on data, can be a true game changer,” explains Tulkens.
“FTI immediately gave us access to their community and network. We quickly started conversations with various parties and are already experiencing the added value of this partnership,” concludes Tulkens.
Hamerlinck adds: “IntelliProve’s technology is a valuable addition to our community. With this collaboration, we are taking yet another step toward a future where innovation and health go hand in hand.”
