My morning routine kicks off with a much-needed cup of coffee. I savor that moment while tuning into ‘De 7’ from De Tijd, getting the lowdown on the 7 key financial headlines. After a quick shower, I’m off in my car— biking that early is not my cup of tea.

When I step into the office, I grab another coffee and check my emails. I love asking my colleagues how their evenings went. I find it important to personally connect. Then it’s time to write down my to-do list. Keeping a physical list alongside a digital one is my secret weapon for maintaining peace of mind and a sense of accomplishment as I cross tasks off.

My workday is anything but ordinary. I’m all about customer contact. Although admin tasks aren’t my favorite, I make sure to dive into our CRM system because it’s crucial to track inquiries and follow-ups. I make it a point to stay on top of all our touchpoints and maintain a clear pipeline. Who should we contact? Who haven’t we heard from in a long time? I thrive on brainstorming with colleagues to come to creative solutions. However, it’s essential to have a clear output from every meeting. Before joining FTI, I worked as a project manager, so it’s second nature for me to ensure that every meeting wraps up with clear tasks for everyone involved.

Recently, I had a fantastic day visiting clients with our CEO and an expert. We kicked things off by meeting a corporate team before noon and spent the afternoon chatting with a potential partner in the startup scene. That shift in focus, engaging across sectors, is both exciting and rewarding.

For me, success is when my message truly resonates with a client. It’s all about feeling that my story makes sense and inspiring collaboration. If I can channel that energy into action, it’s worth celebrating over drinks with my friend later.

On a personal note, I believe in inspiring others through being vulnerable. As a gay man, being in an environment where I can truly be myself is important. Therefore, it’s my personal mission to contribute to such an open environment and make it easier for others to be themselves as well. Receiving an inclusion and diversity award was a humble recognition of this effort. It’s crucial to have faith in the goodness of people and work towards positive change.

Navigating my role means I often interact with C-level executives, which can be a challenge but offers a steep learning curve. Just because I’m young doesn’t mean I lack contributions. I bring a fresh perspective that resonates with both Gen Z and millennials. That said, working for a startup requires stepping out of your comfort zone: you encounter a broad range of tasks, including some you’ve never done before, and you may not always be the top expert in those areas.

What I love about FTI is the startup vibe. I thrive on generating ideas and multitasking. In a startup, your input leads to quick action, and I appreciate the chance to grow personally while being at the forefront of innovation. Plus, the team? Absolutely fantastic 😊.

As the day winds down, I often call friends, especially if I have a long drive home. After a busy day, there’s nothing better than connecting with loved ones. Every day presents new opportunities to make an impact, so I end my day feeling reenergized and grateful to be part of the FTI story.
